TO THE ATTENTION OF THE STUDENTS THAT WILL ATTEND INDUSTRIAL INTERNSHIP
1. During Internship Registration, students are requested to form records for every internship separately.
İe.: Engineering Workshop - Yarn Production– Weaving – Knitting – Dyeing/Finishing – Garment/Ready-to-wear – Planning / Organization /Laboratory should be entered separately in the Internship Type Field.
2. If students would like to apply for the arrangement of a suitable internship company, they can apply by writing their names on the related list which will be announced on the web site of Textile Engineering Department. The students will be allocated to the available companies according to their sequence on the list. Applications will be made during January and February.
3. If the students, which have applied for a suitable internship company, arrange a company on their own, they are requested to notify the Internship Commission about the company and the scheduled internship dates. Otherwise they will have to fulfill their internship at the company arranged by the department.
4. The students who individually arrange an internship company are requested to take an approval from the related lecturers of the Internship Commission regarding the suitability of the company for the internship in the first three weeks of the Spring Semester.
5. Students are requested to complete three groups of internships.
Internship 1
Engineering Workshop Internship - 14 Working days (Application date: April, Internship time: two groups, one of which is in August and the other in September)
Internship 2
Yarn Production- 8 working days + Weaving – 8 working days + Knitting - 4 working days
Internship 3
Dyeing and Finishing – 10 working days + Garment/Ready-to-wear – 5 working days + Planning/Organisation/Laboratory - 5 working days.
6. Students are requested to prepare a report covering the information they gain in the company rather than encyclopedic information. The reported information should be matching with company’s machine layout. If information that is not related with the company’s machines or processes are included in the internship report, then the internship will be rated as ‘incomplete’ by the Internship Commission.
7. Internship Reports sould be handed over to registrar’s office in the first two weeks of the academic year.
8. Internship Reports should be written by hand using pen.
9. Only if the students can submit a company-signed paper showing that the company works on Saturdays, the Saturdays can be counted as working days. Since 30th of August is an official holiday, it cannot be counted as a working day.
10. The students are requested to fulfill their internship during the summer time. Only students which are about to graduate (that have completed the courses and can graduate after completing the mandatory internship), can fulfill their interships during the February vacation and vacations before final exams.
11. Engineering workshop internship is not a pre-requisite for other internships.
12. Students are requested to have taken the related courses before fulfilling the 2nd and 3rd group internships.
13. The students are not allowed to fulfill internship if they are registered to any courses, even if the course is Senior Project Design.
14. Erasmus students will be able to fulfill their internship until the beginning of the academic year of the university they are going to attend.
IMPORTANT NOTE: According to the new legal requirements, universities have to provide insurance to the students that are to fulfill internships. Students not able to certify their insurance will not be accepted by the companies for the internship.
